Photography Resources & Forums

Your name?
Tim L. Walker

What is your site called?
PhotographyCorner - but usually simply refered to as "The Corner" by most of the members of the site.

How old is the site?
Just over 2 years old.

What is the one unique feature of this site?
While there are numerous photography sites and forums on the internet, PhotographyCorner is known for having an extremely helpful and active community. There are dozens of members with well over 1000 posts, and you can usually find over 100 people on the site at any given time. People come for the photography resources, but stay for the photography community.

Do you make money from this site?
Yes - but I run this site more for enjoyment than anything else. The time I spend on it isn't justified by the revenue it brings in.

What is the main revenue stream for this site?
Link sales in our photography directory brings in some revenue, but site and contest sponsors make up most of the revenue for the site. A decent amount of revenue is also brought in via member donations.

If you were to sell this site, how much do you think it would sell for?
While I have no immediate plans to sell the site, I've been offered $60,000 and declined that offer. It's probably worth around there, if not a little less.

What are your plans with this site?
I will continue to grow the site. Membership is around 7,000 now, with over 1 million pageviews/month. I would like to add more resources, expand the directory, as well as add either a Gallery feature for members, or possibly a photoblog feature (or both!).

What sites are your biggest competitors?
Well, like I previously mentioned, there are numerous photography resource sites out there, however sites like thephotoforum.com and phototakers.com are fairly close competitors.

Do you rank well in search engines for this site? If yes, for what search terms?
I am usually in the top 10 (but usually in top 3-5) on Google, Yahoo & MSN for "photography forum" & "photography forums", top 10 on Yahoo & MSN for "photography". Those are the ones that bring the most traffic.

How have you promoted this site in the past?
Yes, it is an on-going process. I employ a large number of strategies to link exchanges with relivant sites, to link building, to banner exchanges, to Google Adwords. The majority of our users find us either by word of mouth, or from links from other sites to our resources.

Going forward how do you intend to promote this site?
I will continue to promote the as I have been. The only thing I am adding to the list above is that I am starting to send out press releases for every contest that we do.
